A meditation of death, 2024
digital print on photo rag paper, 81 x 142 cm
$2000
Hilary Wardaugh’s photogaphic work A Meditation of death draws from Maranasati meditation, confronting mortality and violence suffered by the Palestinian people. Through meticulous stencil work and lumen prints, it challenges war’s false resolutions and the ongoing genocide. This work urges empathy, transcending borders, and compels reflection on life’s fragility and the necessity of compassion amid the loss of 24000 people as of 3rd January 2024.
Now on display in the window gallery.
A Meditation of death was a finalist in the 2024 Mullins Conceptual Photography Prize presented at the Muswellbrook Regional Gallery.
